The Pixma MX700, manufactured by Canon in late 2007, features a built-in printer, scanner and copier. All of these functions depend on a small lamp or bulb inside the machine to print, copy and scan documents. Like any type of lamp, the bulb will burn out causing your printer to become inoperable. Fortunately, you can replace the bulb yourself with very little, if any, technical repair experience.
Difficulty: ModerateInstructionsThings You'll Need:Rubber gloves1Unplug the printer's USB cable from your computer. Power down the printer. Disconnect its power cord from the electrical outlet or surge protector. Move the printer to a sturdy work surface.
2Pull open the panel on the top of the scanner to reveal the glass-plated platform. Unlock the glass platform by pressing on the "Unlock" button on the left side of the platform.
3Put on a pair of rubber gloves and lift the glass platform off the printer assembly to reveal its internal components. Locate the bulb inside the left portion of the printer. Grasp the bulb firmly and pull it out of its socket.
4Place the replacement bulb into the vacant socket inside the printer. Press down until the bulb snaps into place. Replace the glass platform. Press down slightly until the platform snaps back into place.
